After months of planning, the first annual Innovative Illumination Summit, held June 8-10 in Traverse City, MI, was declared a big success by all who attended.
Nearly 100 attendees told us that the Summit was a hit, the training and technical talks were excellent, guest speakers were interesting and engaging, the location was amazing, and the networking was priceless. Even the vendors that exhibited on site received high praise, with attendees saying they appreciated having suppliers present to discuss their latest products and answer technical design questions.
By the end of the Summit, many attendees were wondering whether we’ll make the full presentation materials available to you; keep an eye out for a special email to that affect. Many other attendees also wanted to know: When will you be doing the next Summit?
Although we don’t have a date set, I can tell you that there will be a second summit and we will once again be asking you for your input. Attendees should already have received a survey asking what worked for them at this year’s Summit as well as what they would like to see, hear, and do at the next event. Please take the time to share your thoughts. After all, this event was and is all about you. We know that in order to be successful in the knowledge-based machine vision industry, technical expertise and training are critical — and Smart Vision Lights is dedicated to helping our partners be all they can be.
Finally, a personal note that’s important to many throughout the machine vision industry. On Wednesday evening during the Summit, we were able to honor and celebrate one of Smart Vision Lights’ founders and our director of sales, Bobby Segraves. Bobby has decided to retire at the end of June 2016. We can’t thank the Summit attendees enough for joining in the celebration of one of the machine vision industry’s most prolific careers. Bobby has been an integral part of the machine vision industry as a whole, along with the growth and success of Smart Vision Lights, and a great friend to many. He will be missed by all of us here at SVL, and by many of you – his extended family.
Thanks again to all that attended and made it a success. To those who missed it, we hope to see you in 2017.
President, Smart Vision Lights
