Description of Application:
In whiskey barrel manufacturing, white oak planks too small for barrel staves are used to manufacture barrel heads. In our application workers assemble the non-uniform pieces of wood in an arrangement large enough to be cut into a head. The pieces are arranged on an assembly table complimented by a Smart Vision Lights LED projector. The projector assists the workers to assemble the heading material in an arrangement to minimize waste & mark the center of the assembly. Once the assembly has been finished the kit is moved to a gluing station where they cure as a cant. Once they are dry the workers position them on a fixture & using the center mark referenced from the project, they align the head for an accurate cut in a saw. The LED projector provides not only a clear outside perimeter on the wood surface to minimize waste during the cutting process; it also produces a defined center location that can be marked for operations down stream of the assembly
