SX30 Diffuser & Polarizer Kit
Description
A diffuser is used to homogenize lighting structure by distributing source light over a scattering/translucent area to produce an effective light-emitting surface. This is useful for illuminating shiny surfaces or large areas, where source direction and structure can pose a limitation for imaging systems. Smart Vision Lights’ standard diffusers are usable with all visible wavelengths. UV LEDs and SWIR may require a special diffuser.
Polarizing filters are used to help to reduce specular reflections from shiny, nonmetal surfaces. Smart Vision Lights’ polarizer material has a typical transmission of about 40% while blocking about 60% of the light not in the plane of polarization. The polarizer is placed in front of the light and is available as an option with our visible wavelength lights.
It is not recommended to use with continuous operation with certain wavelengths (e.g., white, blue) as it may damage the polarizer due to focused light/high flux zones at the light’s output window. UV LEDs and SWIR require a special polarizer.
