SVL Well Represented at NIWeek

The “Internet of Things” was a topic of discussion at NIWeek, held recently in Austin, Texas. More than 3,000 attended, and SVL was there. We had a lot of interesting conversations about our industry and our products.

The brightest minds in engineering and science gathered in Austin, Tex., the week of Aug. 3, and Smart Vision Lights was there. The company was well represented at the 21st annual NIWeek conference, presented by National Instruments.

SVL’s Director of Sales and Marketing and I made the trip on behalf of SVL. Bobby, who attended NIWeek two years ago, told me that overall attendance was noticeably up compared to 2013. NIWeek estimated that 3,200 people attended the three-day event.

Along with a wide variety of seminars and breakout sessions, NIWeek boasted some impressive keynote addresses. The “Internet of Things” – which allows objects to be sensed and controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure — was a common topic of discussion. Speakers talked about the sensing, processing, wireless connectivity, and data needed to create the IoT.

SVL shared a booth with Gardasoft to help highlight its triniti lighting controller, which got a very positive response from attendees. Also, conversations about triniti often led to talking about SVL products that were not even on display at NIWeek.

We had some fun away from the conference, too. One night I stumbled upon the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge, which is home to the world’s largest urban colony of bats. That was an experience!

NIWeek 2016 is also scheduled to be held in Austin in August of next year.
