Smart Vision Lights Plans New Facility

Smart Vision Lights is close to breaking ground on a new $3 million facility in Norton Shores, Michigan. Located on a 6.7-acre site, the 36,000-square-foot building will have space for design and engineering — including areas for prototyping and robotics demonstrations — as well as assembly space and offices. The expansion, which nearly triples the size of SVL’s existing facility in Muskegon, could potentially create 15 jobs over the next two years.

SVL is experiencing a 30 percent year-over-year growth rate. The company’s expansion mirrors the explosive growth in the machine vision industry, with sales of systems and components reaching $709 million in the first quarter of 2018.

As SVL looks to expand globally, the company will keep its roots in western Michigan. “Our workforce is here, and with the strong automotive and automation industries in Michigan, the location aligns perfectly with the work we do,” says SVL president Dave Spaulding.
