Norton Shores, Mich., May 7, 2024 — Smart Vision Lights (SVL), a leading designer and manufacturer of high-brightness LED lights for industrial applications, is honored to announce that its innovative Hidden Strobe technology has been recognized among the best by the 2024 Vision Systems Design (VSD) Innovators Awards. Smart Vision Lights was awarded the Silver honor in the Lighting, Lenses, and Optics category.

Hidden Strobe machine vision light for logistics

The VSD Innovators Awards celebrate outstanding innovation in machine vision. Every year, Vision Systems Design showcases and rewards companies, designers, and innovators who have contributed to the advancement of technology through their creative and impactful designs. Winners are chosen by a panel of senior third-party expert judges.

Hidden Strobe is a groundbreaking technology engineered to optimize machine vision systems operating at high speeds while minimizing the negative impacts of traditional strobing LED lights. This patent-pending innovation allows LEDs to internally self-trigger thousands of times per second, creating a nearly continuous light source that eliminates the disorienting flashes typically associated with strobing lights.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from Vision Systems Design,” says Dave Spaulding, President and CEO of Smart Vision Lights. “As machine vision systems operate at increasingly high speeds, it is critical that the lighting employed in these systems is capable of capturing the right images without causing unintended environmental hazards. Hidden Strobe is our answer to this challenge.”

Traditionally, LED lights are strobed, or pulsed, to freeze images of fast-moving objects in various applications, including logistics, consumer goods, pharmaceutical, and automotive industries. However, the disorienting flashing lights can create an unpleasant environment for nearby personnel. Hidden Strobe minimizes these negative impacts, allowing manufacturers to maximize the use of their machine vision systems without compromising the wellbeing of their employees.

“The Hidden Strobe feature creates an illusion of continuous light by self-triggering pulses faster than the human eye can perceive,” explains Matt Pinter, Chief Technology Officer at Smart Vision Lights. “This technology enables us to take advantage of the powerful overdrive modes of LEDs while ensuring a safer and more comfortable environment for workers.”

Smart Vision Lights accepted the award at the 2024 Automate show in Chicago, Illinois.
