Smart Vision Lights joined more than 150 other machine vision business leaders and technical experts from Europe and beyond for the 16th EMVA Business Conference, June 7-9, 2018. Hosted in the historic seaside town of Dubrovnik, Croatia, the event offered a mix of presentations and panel discussions covering today’s most interesting and pressing matters in machine vision and where the industry is going.
Jeremy White, executive editor of Wired magazine, delivered an engaging keynote on the rise of artificial intelligence — a topic that already is showing broad implications in machine vision. We also heard about real-world applications on the related topic of deep learning in industrial quality inspection. Other subjects included:
- What to Expect from Machine Vision Innovations for Autonomous Driving
- Vision Mergers & Acquisitions
- Inspection 4.0. – Let’s Make It Agile
Networking opportunities were plentiful as well, from the dinner held in Dubrovnik’s Old Town (which survived the war in 1991) to the boating excursion that took us to an uninhabited island in the middle of oyster beds in the Adriatic Sea.
It was very clear from the conference that machine vision keeps growing in depth and breadth of applications and end markets. Well done, EVMA, and we look forward to doing it again next year in Copenhagen.
